It can be mixed with or taken neat, and is just as happy serving as a modifier in a cocktail as taking center stage. Brandy (from brandywine, derived from Dutch brandewijn, gebrande wijn or "burned wine") is a spirit produced by distilling wine, or a fruit based mash. At The Hive Brandy Company, we specialize in non-grape Brandies (just like our non-grape wines).
We want to take a moment to emphasis that the products listed here are true brandies, carefully distilled hard spirits with an alcohol content of 40% to 45 % (80 to 90 proof). (US regulations require at least a 40% Alcohol content for brandy.) As Utah’s first brandy distillery, we focus on high quality “true” brandy, which is not, as many believe, a sweet and syrupy spirit, but a true hard spirit, not unlike whisky. Just like our wines, our premium brandy is crafted from whole fruit wines carefully fermented and then distilled. The result is a much subtler flavor than you might be expecting, but it is also much more real.
None of our brandies are sweet.
All of our aged brandies achieve their color strictly from contact with oak, which has been carefully selected to complement the flavors of the brandy. It is our hope you enjoy drinking these quality spirits as much as we enjoy making them.
